four critical elements for writing like a professional

Friday, July 31st, 2009

Write Like A Professional By Following These Four Rules I. Plot - No matter the definition, a plot is essentially the storyline, or sequences of events that makes up a story. All plots should include conflict, addressing an internal or external argument that deals with other people or events, either way it must be both original and interesting. How complex the plot or setting is presented, is a matter of personal taste. Let’s face it, no matter how you definition what a plot is, the object is to engage the reader with so much intensity that he/she simply could not put the book down. Simply put, write a great story. 2. Characters - The most intriguing element of any book is its characters. You must make the characters so vivid that they not only come alive in the reader’s mind but the reader actually transform into them. Characters can range anywhere from short outlines to profound, detailed biographies, the emphasis placed depends on the value the character brings to the story. Obviously characters must be kept in the nature of the genre. Make your characters real by association. If the reader can associate with the character, he/she can become alive in his/her qualities. 3. Style - The style you write in will become your trademark. It is what the reader will look for in your works. Be it adventure, romance or mystery, how you portray the storyline will define your novel. Is your writing well-organized and reserved or do your plots become complex and out of the ordinary? Is your vocabulary extensive or do you get right to the point? How many words are there and are they fitting to the character of the story? Do you write of romance or the deep mysteries of the mind? Each genre has a loyal reader following. People read for information or to escape into someone else. Stick to basic writing rules and limit the ue of adverbs when writing conversation. Fit the dialogue to the occasion. Use words suitable to their proper meaning and most important don’t just tell, illustrate. 4. Length - Length is somewhat self explanatory. How long is your book? The length should be appropriate to the story. Keep the length practical so it can be read in an reasonable amount of time. Don’t ramble, keep the reader engaged and energized. Sometimes less is more in writing. Stay on track and flow from start to end. Don’t write to fill pages rather write to stir the imagination Books that are too long demonstrate the ego of the writer rather than the consideration of the reader. Rambling, lengthy stories are often a sign of a wandering mind by a writer who is more interested in showing intellect rather than consideration. The same goes for novels that are too short, though this doesn’t seem to happen as often. Sometimes when characters and settings are screaming for more detail they are cut short and become dry. Adding “bulk” is important to the tempo of a novel. If too much length is bad, so also is a book that’s too short. Keeping the proper pace is important. Don’t linger yet don’t speed off. Like life, everything must come one event at a time and in order. Order keeps the reader from being confused and disenchanted. What is the main object? The main object is to keep the reader on the edge of his/her seat and glued to the story. Reach out, grab the reader and pull him/her into the story. The reader must be able to relate to your characters and feel their emotions as if they were their own. When they transform into your characters they become engaged in a personal experience of happiness, sorrow, anxiety and the other elements of your storyline. Bring the story to life. Don’t just tell a story, pull the reader in by persuading them they are living it. Make them feel what the characters feel. Send them on a journey they will remember forever. Remember the pen is a mighty tool, communicate with your reader, touch their spirit and make your story a living experience. michael jackson was the greatest long live the king

Friday, July 31st, 2009

Michael Jackson was a man that you didn’t have to know in order to feel close to him. Many people around the world shared these same thoughts. There was just something magical about him that touched the souls of everybody that listened to him and watched him perform. You could say it was close to a touch of God. Not comparing him to the higher power, but his presence was like no other, There will never be anything like it again. People that grew up a fan honestly felt that they lost a part of them when he died. It was a sad day. There is no other singer/person that had the world grieve for them like he did. Grown men cried over his death, people took their lives after he left this earth. The things he did in his lifetime will never be touched. It’s sad how people tried to slander his name his whole career, but really never succeeded. Was it because they were jealous that a man could have that much power? Was it because he was black? Was it because they couldn’t have what he did? The answer will probably never be found. Michael Jackson’s career spoke words that can’t be explained. Just his presence on stage had massive amounts of people crying and fainting. That’s unheard of. No matter how old he got, people still bought his music. No matter what color or ethnicity you were people still played and danced to his songs. He was a man of great talent. As far as his appearance, he had a reason for that. He basically had skin cancer, and people talk about him as if he wanted to be a white man. Things people try to do and say about Michael Jackson just don’t make sense. There is truly hate in people’s blood. His songs not only had tunes that people today still dance to as if they were new, but they had messages. A lot of his songs were based on war topics, racial topics, and personal motivation. For example two songs you might want to listen to are “Man In The Mirror”, and “Black or White.” He was a simple man that just wanted to live. He didn’t grow up like the rest of the world. So how can people judge him. His childhood was like no other, but yet he was criticized on a continuous basis. The funny thing is, after all the bad talk about him he still overcame everything. He didn’t lose fans, he only gained them. His death marked a period in history that will never be forgotten. He left such a legacy that I can even see on day being named after him in his honor. All for a singer you say? No, he was much more than that. He gave people hope. He gave people a chance by paving the way in the music industry. He connected with all people around the world like no other person did. He gave to more charities than any person ever has. He was passionate about everything he did. People can say what they want about him but it won’t change what he’s done. Rumors usually end a person’s career; his career never ended and never will. He flourishes even when he’s not on earth. I just want to personally say goodbye Michael. You will truly be missed. You touched more people than you’ll ever know. It was too soon for us to see you leave, but the lord believed that you did everything you could’ve done. It was time for you to be in a better place. “Long Live The King.” Visit Ryan at his blog: Ryan’s Blog

a college students adventure back into time

Friday, July 31st, 2009

This article is a fictional tale about a college student living in the year 2035 and finds himself daydreaming about the lives of 1st Century Christians in the Roman Empire. Hello, my name is Alexander Briggs and I am a 21st Century Christian living in the year 2035. I was daydreaming one day after shutting down my computer and leaving my online Roman History class and wondered ‘what kind of person would I be if I lived as a 1st Century Christian’. Would I be a tent maker or a fisherman or would I be born into royalty and live a life of leisure? Would I think myself better than others and segregate myself from certain classes of people conforming to the ways of the social systems of that time? I wonder if my cultural or economic status at that time would draw me into a relationship with Christ or delay my acceptance of Christ as my Savior. Have you ever wondered about things like that? Ok, enough daydreaming and back to the year 2035. Today, scientists have made great strides in discovering a time portal through a lightning bolt. They discovered that there is a time factor between a lightning bolt and thunder that is measured by a computer chip called Millionth Second Time Vacuum (MSTV), which can be grafted into the top layer of skin on the wrist allowing a person to tap the wrist to be beamed back into time. The greater the intensity of the lightning strike, the greater the chance to travel back into centuries of time. Scientists have perfected this discovery and can predict the length and breadth of a strike to determine what century or era of time you can travel back into. One of the advantages of this mechanism is it sends a signal to the brain alerting you of when to tap your wrist to bring you back into the present. A scenario that has occurred due to this invention is the question of ethics and how this new science alters the future. The Global Government Council has been contending with the Supreme Court to overrule any restraints and give scientists the opportunity to perfect this discovery. So, let’s take a trip through the MSTV into the 1st Century to experience how Christians lived. We will not be able to choose a culture of our choice but will be at the mercy of science. I recommend you put on a pair of comfortable sandals and leave everything behind including any electronic instruments that identifies you with the future. I want us to discover the feelings and attitudes of how 1st Century Christians dealt with the harsh winds of change, whether economic or political dilemmas of that time. Walking the Streets of Galilee Shazam!! Here we are right in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the market on the streets of Sepphoris, Galilee. Women are shopping, sellers are selling and all around are Jewish soldiers keeping watch on the crowds. There are lots and lots of people here from all walks of life, and the sad news is there are beggars sitting on every street corner asking for food or some kind of help. Wow, that’s no different than my home town setting! Ok, so let’s see what we can do to earn some change to buy some food. It looks like our clothes are obviously different than the general public. Quick, let’s get some help in finding the right clothes to wear. Done! As we continue our walk in our new garments, it dawns on me that a lot of my research and books I’ve read about the early Christian church is coming back to me. I remember that religion plays a great influence in people’s lives. Individual choice and personal religious beliefs are a reflection of their daily lifestyle. I recall one particular book by Horsley and Silberman, which explains the Roman Empire’s influence and how it promotes immorality and injustice. In contrast to the Roman influence, the church develops a help’s ministry to aid the weak and the powerless, the widows, orphans, and destitute strangers. Over time, this is organized to guide the day-to-day lives of these alternative communities. Listening to the sounds of sellers and buyers on the streets, I witness a mix of oppression on people’s faces from an over taxing government on some to an inner peace on others, in spite of their personal struggles in their everyday lives. The good news is the followers of Jesus make headway and gain momentum in their efforts to convey the message of hope, restoration, and salvation throughout Galilee by standing on street corners and visiting the homes of families sharing the message of the ‘Good News’. I believe the more we understand the sufferings of people from this era the more we can recognize the struggles 1st century Christians encounter; setting a strong and sustaining foundation of faith for succeeding generations of Christian believers. Just as we are turning the street corner, there is a sudden flash of lightning and a thunder crash. I look up to the sky and see a huge storm blowing in from the West. The wind starts to pick up and I turn to you with a look of anticipation and say, “It’s time to go back home.” The storm is blowing in with sheets of rain drenching the passerbyers, and I realize it might be our only chance to go back to the future before a Jewish soldier stops us and questions our purpose in walking the streets. Suddenly, a second flash of lightning flies over our heads and I quickly tap my wrist where the MSTV is implanted. It is all such a strange experience because during the lightning bolt, time stands still and the lightning bolt freezes for just enough time to bring us back into the year 2035. Going Back Home Wow, what an exciting adventure! I hope the witness of 1st century Christians and their living conditions give you a better appreciation of how the Message of Salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ is conveyed. But what about the Christian church today? Are there still issues from the 1st century that are prevalent in our society? Although governments and societies have made great strides worldwide, there is still hunger, famine, and suffering in the land; a theme that flowed throughout the 1st century. The church still struggles to adapt its ministry to change even though the message is the same. Science continues to create new concepts and inventions that question our ethical standards in life. And, since the 1st century, the church continues to grow through trial and tribulation, retaining the Truth of the Gospel. I hear that statistical data reveals there is continuous growth among Christian believers on a global basis in spite of the situational and natural dilemmas in the world today. One of my classmates just sent an e-mail telling me that the chancellor of our Global University has given the ok for higher educational institutions to hire retiring professors to work for the cable and phone companies to monitor all college students’ activities and report if any student complains or has a conflict with a professor which causes student loan funds to be cut off and the student placed on probation for one year! The persecution level is no different than living in the 1st Century! So here I am with you checking my e-mail messages. Oh no! I just received an e-mail from the student loan database that the Global Financial System is monitoring my attendance because of my absenteeism from my online class. Now I am being told they can reduce my student loan limit or cut off my loans if I don’t validate my whereabouts during my time away from class! Do they have the right to control my life and my future! Do I tell them about my time warp experience and will they believe me? Wow, this control factor is almost no different than the way 1st Century Christians faced situations long ago! How do you think we should live amidst the imperiums of our day? NA. guide to writing good articles

- Guide to writing Good Articles - 1. Define Your Target Audience. A target audience can be people of a certain age group, gender or a group sharing a common interest. A certain combination likes, Work at home moms, Young Entrepreneurs, Photography enthusiasts, LA Lakers fans or Fitness and Lifestyle group are some examples of target audiences. Other groups, although not the main focus, may also be interested. Discovering the appropriate target market(s) to market a product or service to is one of the most important stages involved with market research. 2. Choose Your Topic. Your topic should provide content to your target audience. Content that your target audience will benefit from. You can use how-to article; a review article, a problem then solution article. If your target audience were work at home moms, you would write a topic about “How to handle kids while working at home”. If your target audience focuses on health conscious individuals, you would write something like “Best 15 minute workout”. A topic about “How to get out of debt” would capture the interest of couples or individuals who are actually in a debt situation and they would want to hear solutions to their problems. 3. Write Your Article. Writing articles is easier than you think. Your article format would depend on your Topic. If you chose a How- to article, simply outline the steps in a numbered sequence providing the step-by-step instructions followed by tips to make the instruction easier to follow. If you chose to write about Problem- Solution article, simply state the problem and state the solution based on facts backed up by your personal experience. You would also want to put a paragraph at the beginning of your article explaining why you are writing the article and why you want to share it. 4.Write Your Title. Once your article is ready. You will want to capture your target audience’ attention. The title is a very important part because most people will not even bother reading your content if your title is boring. Be creative, just like the newspaper headlines. If you want to capture the attention young entrepreneurs, you might want to use “Best Online Business For Young Entrepreneurs”. Your title should be something that puzzles them that is related to their interests. Questions make great article titles. The human brain has a specific chemical reaction when a question is unanswered, it does NOT like it! Now that you have your article, it would be useless if no one reads it? There are a number of ways to distribute your article for free. You can create a blog or you can go to EzineArticles, Amazines, GoArticles. Just google them up and you will find these websites. tips to write term paper that rock

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

Writing a term paper is a must for most students in college. Most college students are required by their teachers to write term papers to develop their writing skills, which they could use once they finished their course. Term paper writing had been done for centuries but sadly not all students who have undergone this type of project end up giving a substantive and excellent term paper. Many students who receive low grades and worse failing scores in their term paper blame their predicament to the fact that they do not know what are the things needed in order to write a great term paper. To all students who are about to write their term paper projects here are some tips that will help you accomplish your task with ease and in flying colors. A. Heed the instruction. One pitfall of most students why their term paper had a low grade is their failure to follow the instructions of their teacher. Many term papers end up with low grades since the students who made it had not followed the directions of the teacher giving it. Many students end up not following the proper instructions since they are afraid to ask their teacher since they do not want to be braded as dump. If you are one of these students it is time to change that mindset, students must realize that asking questions for clarification is perfectly normal in this world. Instead of criticising, you for asking question your teacher might even appreciate you more since you are sincere and serious in making sure your term paper is the best among your peers. Besides, asking questions is far better that ending up with a half bake term paper, which might cost you with low grades and even failing to pass the subject. B. Be time conscious. One basis of most teachers to rate term papers with high rate is the date it is submitted. If ever the term paper is passed on time, there is a strong tendency that the teacher will give it a high rating for punctuality. Any student who want to write a good term paper must be time conscious at all times and much as possible avoid any delay to make sure the term paper is passed on time. Working early on the project is also highly recommended so that any student who might find some trouble while doing the term paper can still has the luxury to revise or remedy any situation that might put your term paper writing at risk. C. Choose the right topic. The secret of most great term papers are is the topic chosen by the one writing it. Students tasked to write term papers should choose topics that interest them so that they will have the drive and commitment to do the project. Aside from choosing the topic that interests you, it would also be best that before you choose your topic you should make sure that you already envision the materials and research to be conducted on the term paper. Make sure the topic you choose can be researched easily so that it will not cause some headache on your part. D. Proper length of your term paper. A number of excellent term papers were judge on how substantive and clear the report and not on the number of pages. Do your best to avoid lengthy term papers since it cannot really help in increasing your grade for the project. If students can limit the number of pages do it as long as the main data of the term paper are properly explained and written. Limited number of term paper of pages also offer higher chance of getting high rating since most teachers do not really pay much attention on lengthy term papers. E. Love the Library. Excellent term papers are usually made up of well-researched data and facts. Most data and facts in term papers can be found inside the library so any student tasked to write term papers must learn to love the library. Library is defined by some as the storeroom of knowledge so to utilize some of these helpful knowledge anybody who is tasked to write a term paper must regularly visit this place for research. If you happen to fear entering a library, it is time to forego such dilemma if you are really intent of producing a good term paper; besides the library had a number of staff to assist you in your needs. If you will religiously follow these five steps, there is strong tendency that you will produce a great term paper. Wade Knoxville college papers

article writing 101 fight writers block with these 10 colossal tips

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

The pleasure of article writing is immense, especially if you do so with exceptional competence and poise. After due time in front of the word processor, the words tend to come with greater ease than the previous days. Extraordinary ability comes with practice and a willingness to learn new things. For all it’s benefits, there is a little imp that makes his way onto your work table when you least expect it. His name is writers block. Everyone has heard about even the best writers experiencing writers block from time to time. It is unavoidable, but you can remedy this problem if you arm yourself with some of the techniques that professional writers use when the little imp jumps between our ears! Here are 10 of the best ways. 1. Take a stretch! Shake your head. Relax for a minute. Take a deep breath. Sometimes all it takes is to loosen yourself up a bit before moving forward. 2. Completely divert your attention. Stop. Get up and walk the dog. Brush your teeth. Cook yourself a meal. Wash the dishes. Whatever it takes to shake your mind loose from the pressure at hand. 3. Write a paragraph full of nonsense. I’m only halfway ashamed to admit it, but when I can’t pull another syllable out of my tired brain, I start writing dirty jokes and other nonsense to put a little smile on my face. After this, I’m usually ready to begin again. 4. Re-read the last two paragraphs. Sometimes going over what you just wrote can provide you with a fresh look at the concept you’re trying to communicate. 5. Break out the thesaurus. This is especially good when that doggone word is on the tip of your tongue, but you can’t seem to pluck it out. A thesaurus is an essential tool in the writers arsenal. 6. Get something to eat. Sometimes writers block is a result of brain fog. Brain fog can be the result of low energy levels. Grab something small to munch on and get those A’s connecting with those B’s in no time. 7. Call a friend to ask for help. Anyone, really, you get the idea. Enlist the help of someone who can provide a clear and fresh eye for what you are doing. Two heads are really better than one! 8. Brainstorm about three to five related concepts down before you go any further. Sometimes this small thing is all it takes to jar an idea loose from your foggy mind. 9. Write your last few sentences down on pencil and paper. Believe it or not, this is a very effective technique. Pecking away at your laptop becomes tedious and annoying at times. Writing on actual paper for a minute can help train you back into coherence. 10. If you’re a guy, kiss your wife. Women are a fantastic, if not overutilized diversion for us. Don’t go too far, cowboy, you’ve got writing to do! If you’re a gal, kiss your husband. Men are a fantastic, if not underutilized diversion for you. Don’t go too far, cowgirl, you’ve got writing to do! These are some of the best known tactics for knocking your noggin back to life. Your writing is worth the extra effort and depends on someone who is coherent enough to carry your idea the last five yards. Mimicking what other professionals do is not only intelligent, but it’s also what THEY do to keep themselves sharp when they have to be. Before you know it, your competence as a writer will be so strong that bouts with writers block will become fewer and further between.
